Decree functional autonomy (Besluit functionele zelfstandigheid)
Nursus, dental technicians (denturists) and oral hygienists are covered by the decree ‘Besluit functionele zelfstandigheid’. This means that they can carry out certain restricted actions (‘voorbehouden handelingen’) autonomously.
Reserved procedures are medical actions that are risky and therefore may only be performed by authorized healthcare providers. What these procedures are and who can carry them out, autonomously or under supervision, is stated in the law ‘Wet BIG’.
