Direct enrolment in the BIG-register (automatic recognition)

With certain foreign diplomas you can enrol directly in the BIG-register. First, check the Advice application is this route is available to you. Here you can read about the conditions and the procedure.

Conditions

To be able to enrol directly in the BIG-register you must meet the following criteria:

  • You qualified in one of the EER countries;
  • You have the nationality of one of the EER countries or are a long-term resident of an EER country;
  • Your diploma is listed on the list of approved diplomas;
  • For registration in the BIG-register you need to have sufficient command of the Dutch language. Read more about the proof of language proficiency.

Registration

For direct enrolment in the BIG-register, follow this procedure:

Log in with your DigiD and start your BIG registration. If you have no DigiD, you can log in via the BIG login.

If you want to have your specialty registered in the BIG-register, check the box on the application form.

Complete the registration procedure. Print out the application form. Enclose the required documents.

Within 4 weeks you will receive confirmation that your application has been received.

Processing time

We will process an application for direct enrolment in the BIG register as soon as your completed application has been received. Processing may take up to 3 months. The procedure may be delayed if any documents are missing or if more information is needed.

Costs

A BIG registration with a foreign diploma costs € 85. This is a statutory fee. If we reject your application, the fee will not be refunded.
