Training requirement for doctors

If you do not meet the work experience requirements, you may be able to register by obtaining a Periodic Registration Certificate (PRC) through a training programme. This is an established training path in the core skills of your profession.

Please always contact us first to find out if this is possible for you.

The Periodic Registration Certificate (PRC)

A recently obtained Periodic Registration Certificate (PRC) is considered to be proof of training.  If you successfully complete the training, you will receive a Periodic Registration Certificate (PRC). The PRC may be no more than 2 years old at the time of registration.

The training courses and tests are developed by training institutes that provide the original training. Current information on training can be found on the websites of the training institutes.

The VUmc Academy provides registration training for basic doctors. The first module contains three practical tests. These will help you determine which topics you need to update your knowledge on to pass the test.

Start in time

If you want to register based on training, prepare in good time. Training can in some cases last more than 6 months.
