Training requirement for midwives
If you do not meet the work experience requirements, you may be able to register by obtaining a Periodic Registration Certificate (PRC) through a training programme. This is an established training path in the core skills of your profession.

Start in time
Training can in some cases last more than 6 months.The training courses and tests are developed by training institutes that provide the original training. Current information on training can be found on the websites of the training institutes.
Start assessment
If you cannot meet the work experience requirements for midwives, you can demonstrate your competences with a start assessment. The School of Health Care Studies at the Rotterdam University of Applied Sciences organises the start assessment, and the entire programme may take up to 6 months.

The Periodic Registration Certificate (PRC)
If you successfully complete the training, you will receive a Periodic Registration Certificate (PRC). The PRC may be no more than 2 years old at the time of re-registration.
