Training requirement for nurses

If you do not meet the work experience requirements, you may be able to register by obtaining a Periodic Registration Certificate (PRC) through a training programme. This is an established training path in the core skills of your profession.

Please always contact us first to find out if obtaining a Periodic Registration Certificate (PRC) is possible for you.

Proof of training

The following documents count as proof of training:

  • a recently obtained Periodic Registration Certificate (PRC);
  • an HBO-V diploma (higher professional nursing qualification). Please note: the date on the HBO-V diploma determines the new deadline by which you must re-register;

The Periodic Registration Certificate (PRC)

If you successfully complete the training, you will receive a Periodic Registration Certificate (PRC). The PRC may be no more than 2 years old at the time of re-registration.

Preparing for the PRC exam

You can read how you can prepare for the exam on the website herregistratiewetbig.nl [in Dutch] of the Dutch Stichting Consortium Beroepsonderwijs. Here you will also find several organizations that offer training programs. You are not required to undergo any training before registering for the exam.

Start in time

Training can in some cases last more than 6 months.

Register for exam

You can also register directly for the exam at herregistratiewetbig.nl [in Dutch].

Have you obtained your PRC from the Consortium Beroepsonderwijs?

If so, you can upload your certificate to your digital folder at  'Mijn BIG-register' [in Dutch]. The BIG register will check the authenticity of the certificate directly with the Consortium Beroepsonderwijs.
