Preparing the application

STAP 2 - Voorbereiden aanvraag 120x120

Before you start your application, it is important to arrange or prepare a few things.

Improve your Dutch language proficiency

For good and safe care provision it is important that you can speak, read and understand the Dutch language properly. After all, the majority of your future patients are Dutch. In addition, it is important for the quality of healthcare to keep up with developments in your field, for example by reading professional literature. Because professional literature is usually in English, mastering English reading skills is therefore also important.

Providing proof of Dutch language skills and English reading skills is an important requirement. Wait with your application until you have sufficient command of the Dutch language and English reading skills at the correct level. When submitting your application, you must submit evidence that you have an appropriate level of command of Dutch and English.

If you are a nurse, doctor or dentist, please familiarize yourself with the professional (BI)test.

Information about the BI test (for nurses, doctors and dentists) can be found on and via this website. You can also attend one of our information meetings to learn more about what to expect when taking the test.

Collect all required documents in advance

Every applicant must provide various mandatory and desired documents (evidence) when applying. More information can be found in the overview of documents that must be submitted. Make sure that everything is complete before you submit the application. Please contact us if you are in any doubt.

If necessary, ensure correct translations of the documents

If your documents have been drawn up in a language other than Dutch or English, you must submit both the original or authenticated document in the original language and an original translation. The translation must be made by a sworn translator. If you submit a copy of the translation, you must have it authenticated by the translator or a civil-law notary practising in the Netherlands.
